Financial Services Industry

Blueshift has years of experience in the financial services industry. We have deployed agent-less data backup and recovery solutions in a number of local and international firms, ranging from banks, brokers, asset managers, hedge funds, and financial technology vendors.

Today’s IT leaders at financial firms face a number of challenges. Two of the bigger issues are tightening regulations and cost reductions which we’ve highlighted below.

Tightening Regulations

After the Lehman shock and LIBOR scandal authorities have been tightening regulations globally. This is putting added pressure on IT staff to comply with an ever changing regulatory environment while addressing increased network and security risks from both home and abroad. With disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP) requiring constant attention, firms are weighing the merits of owning backup and recovery infrastructure versus private and public cloud offerings.

Cost Reductions

IT leadership is being pushed to reduce department head count while more regulations and data availability requirements further stress resources. This is where Blueshift adds value. We understand the importance of data availability and security while delivering service flexibility, ultimately saving client man hours. Blueshift helps clients design optimal data backup and recovery solutions to fit their technical needs within budget.

Data Backup and Recovery Solution Leadership

Blueshift’s private and public cloud service delivers real advantages for our customers. At the core of this service offering is the Asigra technology. Asigra’s 1,000,000 plus enterprise deployments include many well known financial service firms. Partnered with Blueshift in Japan and the Asia Pacific region, Asigra’s technology provides you with the same level of data security used by the United States Government and Armed Forces - including robust password protection and NIST Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS)140-2 data encryption during both data transfer and storage.

The Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 certification is the most stringent security accreditation defined for cryptographic modules by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Asigra is the only remote backup solution to have achieved this level of certification.

Data Retention

We understand that firms in the financial services market are required to retain specific data sets for 10 years or more. With our service you are provided a secure user interface with which you can create very granular data retention policies.

Disaster Recovery Testing

Blueshift is one of the only solutions that allows you to test recover your data at zero cost. Over years of supporting client and partner needs we have a developed a number of value-added services including regular Disaster Recovery (DR) testing.

Retention Policy

We help create data retention policies to meet customer current and ongoing needs. Our service is extremely flexible and automates the process of backing up and retaining data over specific time periods.

DR Documentation

We provide clients with a documented playbook of processes and technical test scenarios for organizations requiring annual, quarterly or more frequent testing of their Disaster Recovery (DR) or Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

Data Backup - Local, Regional or International Demands

Private cloud customers are free to choose any office or data center location for service deployment. We believe that data recovery is a local issue so if the need arises you can recover your data within your specified RTO.

For our public cloud service we keep our client data where it belongs, in country. For Japanese clients we backup in Japan. For clients outside of Japan we follow the same rules, we don’t transfer public service data outside the country of origin unless explicitly requested by the client.
