Blueshift Introduces New Low Cost “RECOVERY SITE” Service for Business Continuity

Blueshift Data Protection, a pioneer and leading provider of data backup and recovery services, today announced the launch of its RECOVERY SITE Service in addition to its current services menu. The Recovery Site service delivers on-demand server and data recovery for organizations facing critical server outages due to cyberattacks, hardware failure, natural disasters or human error. The service is designed for organizations that rely on a small number of critical servers for their business needs.

With the recent barrage of cyberattacks organizations have realized the real cost of an outage is downtime. In a survey of over 1000 businesses victimized by ransomware 85% reported computers offline for an average of 7 days. The Recovery Site service is purpose-built to reduce downtime to an absolute minimum and provide on-demand, secure access to critical servers.

Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS)

The relative ease of virtualizing server infrastructure and efficiencies in cloud computing options is propelling the Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) market. According to MarketsandMarkets Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) market is forecasted to be worth 12.5 Billion USD by 2022 with Asia Pacific projected to be the fastest growing region with the highest CAGR.

The high cost and complexity of traditional disaster recovery/business continuity (DR/BCP) solutions have left small and medium business out of the marketplace. Recovery Site is ideal for organizations that don’t have resources to build and maintain DR/BCP infrastructure in separate geographic locations.
Recovery Site offers full image backup of Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware ESXi virtual servers to our Okinawa Data Center facility. Full image backups are scheduled per customer requirements. Backups are immediately restored to the Blueshift Managed Recovery Site platform housed in Okinawa. In the event of an outage, fully restored images can be accessed on-demand via remote VPN client. There is no restore time required to access the server image as the virtual machine has already been restored to the Recovery Site platform.

Spare Tire Concept
After an outage it may take days to obtain a replacement server. During this time, the Recovery Site server will be accessible. The Recovery Site server will become the primary sever until the original server is replaced or fixed. When the original site or another location is made available the Recovery Site images and data can be used to fail back. Recovery Site is a fully managed service providing initial installation, policy creation, backup management systems, Okinawa data center, restore platform & OS and remote access VPN.

Regular Testing

Customers can test restore images at anytime for auditing purposes. Full image restores or even file level restores can be performed at any time. Customers are encouraged to test the VPN connection to the Recovery Site on a quarterly basis. Blueshift provides full support for testing activities.

Standard Pricing Per Virtual Machine
Recovery Site initial fee for Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware ESXi host starts at 200,000JPY with a monthly fee of 200,000JPY. The service includes policy creation, off-site backup storage in Okinawa data center, Recovery Site OS platform and VPN client.
